Forum to discuss future of Shannon Airport

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Thursday March 13, 2003 12:02author by Sparks Report this post to the editors

.

Taken from the Irish Times:

Fears over the future of Shannon airport have prompted local interests to organise an open forum at the Great Southern Hotel in Shannon at 8 p.m. tonight.

Concern has grown following the recent decision by three US airlines carrying troops to Iraq to pull out of Shannon, coupled with recent protests at the airport.

There has also been unease since Ryanair said it would divert its Frankfurt-Hahn flights from Shannon to Farranfore.

The meeting, organised by local Fine Gael TD Mr Pat Breen, will be attended by local business, tourism and industry interests and will be chaired by the president of the Irish Travel Agents' Association, Mr Tony Brassil.

Perhaps some of the anti-war organisations should send delegates to this?
