'Kiss me I'm an Irish Taliban'

The Australian and American taliban, their Irish roots and the British Royal ancestry of George Bush: Who gets the shamrock?

Australian Taliban fighter David Hicks was not engaged in any activity against the United States when arrested in Afghanistan. He is being detained under military order of President George W Bush and there are no time limits on his detention. Permission has been refused to see his lawyer or family. Under the order, he can be brought before a military tribunal where the normal rules of evidence did not apply. When they are finished torturing him they can even shoot him under the presidential order. However suicide is a major risk for these prisoners so he may not live long enough to be shot.

I am so proud of our political leaders who are presenting Mr Bush with bowls of shamrock when he is actively torturing other men of Irish descent in ($150,000) dog kennels in Guantanamo Bay. His mother Barbara may even send on some to her realtive , the so-called "queen of England".

Will someone bring a bowl of Shamrock to John Walker "the American Taliban" who is also being held without charge. He loved Ireland when he was here and his Irish ancestry entitle him to more shamrock than a man who murdered 20,000 innocent people in Afghanistan to create a hell hole where women and young men are even being dragges in police stations to be raped!

Na dean e !

Give Bush the Brush!

The US got rid of the Taliban and is giving aid money for the reconstruction of the country. After all that,if the Afghanis can't come to some agreement among their various tribes then what more can we do? Surely they have enough competent people to form an effective government which can administer justly.

There's only so much you can do for some people, and if their culture is too strong for democracy to tkae root then they should be left in the wilderness.

They only got a lucky break because the Taliban harboured Bin Laden.

Fuck that! They are a bunch of loons. I'm just surprised the workers party didn't try to initiate links with them while they were still in power in Kabul. What is an Irish political party of the left, without links to murderous dictators and genocidal nutters- sure they luv 'em.

Perhaps he should have joined the Northern Alliance then and he could have murdered and raped for America and Unocal and been rewarded by a nice new pool like Gul Agha .

"Nutcase organisation", is that you view based on what the US told us about the Taliban. Do you think now that there may have been some lies there?

This might show people that they should be as stupid as to hang around nut case organisations as the tailban. He got what he deserves

members of the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker Communitythat offer shelter to homeless families ini D.C. and do a soup run in Lafeyyette Park directly opposite the White House - are holding a vigil at the Blight House while Irish politicians gather to greet Bush. They are protesting the war and the U.S. military use of Shannon etc.

John Walker (as far as I know) plea bargained to charges when put before a court in Virginia. He was sentenced to 20 years.

What is inconsistent is thatif this is a "mutual coalition against terror"...then the 2 Australians, 6 British and other citizens of coalition members should be returned to their own countries if they choose...just like the American John Walker was afforded (in terms of U.S. termes of reference/rhetoric) I'm pretty sure the Australian government are demanding this. This would be consistent, not saying it has anything to to do with justice in a broader terms of reference.
