Blue Bloc Starts a riot

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Monday May 06, 2002 22:46author by HairyActivist - Disorganisation Report this post to the editors

Today, on the streets of Dublin, a number of known troublemakers converged on a street party.

These know trouble makers were intent on turning a peaceful, party featuring music, dancing, twister, drum playing, face painting into a riot.

Unprovoked they began to attack people peacefully sitting on the ground, dancing, filming and partying. A number of these known trouble-makers had previously been spotted at protests on Car Free Day and otuside the Burlington.

They have a track record of turning peaceful protests violent.

Teenagers and even children were amongst those brutally attacked by blue bloc members. Members of this group were even seen driving a van into pedestrians. Others kicked and punched peaceful people who they through to the ground.

We can all sleep safely tonight, knowing that our money is paying for the these trouble makers to attack us in a concerted attempt by the Gardaí Siochána (Guardians of the Peace) to start a riot.

Who are these depraved villains? How is it that they've been able to get away with it for so long? And not only that, they're a known organized gang. Something should be done about them.

To all the RTS participants: good party! pity it was spoiled by the criminals.

Ho, ho, very funny. How about posting something sensible.

Could someone please tell me whether that blue Fiesta was just some random car or was it brought there by some protesters deliberately?

Why is what was posted "not sensible"? It points out that the violence that happened was initiated by a group of people that initiate violence regularly at public events: the Gardai.

I think that's very sensible to point that out.

So what is it that you disagree with about the report?

I thoroughly support RTS but it turns my stomach to read uninformative crap like that. Uh huh huh, "blue bloc" - hilarious.

I think the article had a point and it was mildly ironic, which is fine. The Gards were well behaved right up until the Dame Street incident and their use of violence has to be highlighted. But yeah, this comment or whatever was just totally uninformative and dumb - if anyone's gonna post anything like that here, please actually inform people of something. After all, it's a news website but boards.ie.

The blue fiest was a banger purchased with the intention of being trashed, by the RTSers.

It wasn't some passing punters car, but a symbolic gesture.

That being said, the gesture was fucking moronic and it sparked the violence, it was a bleeding stupid thing to do....

a report on irish independent online describes the crowd as nasty and violent.
however in reality the gardai were swinging in response to the singing of "peaceful protest".

they obviously got the nod from above and rallied each other to "put manners on the hippies", they were on a rampage to achieve maximum bragging rights amongst themselves.

my friend went to help the first poor fella they got on the ground and clubbed, he wasnt violent just trying to clam the mob of gards, he got a club to the head for his efforts, i went in to drag him away and got clubbed, if my granny at 90 years of age had been there she would have got it.
the guards wore no numbers or had any form of i.d they all looked just the same to me. young lads straight out off templemore, with the taste for blood, they were well pumped up and all seemed to be enjoying the rampage.
sleep well

It was interesting to overhear the head Gard's telephone conversation today. Him and his ilk simply don't understand, and were completely incapable of comprehending, what was going on. I'm quite sure they were genuinely ill informed about what the RTS event was.

All I can remember the guy saying (even after talking to IMC heads): "there was a bit of a situation earlier on ... there's some kind of an event here, or something". That's 40 years of brainwashing, folks.

maybe 'potlatch' should stop reading hakim bey and lighten up a bit:

I think 'blue bloc' is a funny play on words:

good to hear the rts thing still happening in dublin and quite typical to see the templemorons vying for a ruck: hows about holding the next one in sheriff street though???
