Hi all,

"The Revolution will not be Televised" screened on RTE1 (Irish National TV) last night casts an interesting light on US foreign policy vs. oil producers ... I think it's due to be repeated this weekend on the BBC! It was filmed by an Irish camera-crew with exclusive access to Hugo Chavez the democratically elected Venezuelan president, although he was no saint having previously led a coup attempt himself against the right-wing government in 1992.

Everything was relatively quiet for him until he began the process of reforming the national oil company which was run by the country's oil ... igarchy (excuse the pun). At that point all hell broke loose as the 5 private TV broadcasters began an orchestrated campaign culminating in the world's first TV coup, the generals actually recorded the broadcast in a TV producers apartment! The inside view in the documentary is in dramatic contrast to the CNN view beamed around the world. It is suspected though unproven that US government agencies were behind it???
