Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7I approve wholeheartedly of indymedia and the right of people to report the news as they see it, however it is clearly important for the reporters to get their facts straight. In this interest I would like to point out that the Bush-monster, the tanks and the children dressed as prisoners were all engineered by Globalise Resistance and not by the Socialist Workers Party. While many of our members are also members of the socialist Workers party, many are also members of other parties and many are non-aligned. All are welcome, and indeed encouraged to participate, with a view to creating a broad-based anti-capitalist movement. Just as a footnote, the woman carrying the banner reading "freedom fighters not suicide bombers" was not with our group, she just happened to be walking there.
tell me you're having a laugh. who runs globalise resistance? and how many of them are not members of the swp?
So who makes decisions for GR? If the SWP want to convince people that gr is not a front why dont they ask GR to publically publish their decision making process? Everybody who isnt a member of the party is not an idiot you know, or maybe the SWP keeps issuing these denials for the benefit of political neophytes since they realise that nobody with a bit of experience would ever willingly allow themselves to be the ultra-exploited menial labourers of the clique of full timers who run the show.
On a related note, has anybody in the SWP leadership ever had a job outside of a university, or does the 'W' really stand for 'wankers'.
oh come on Nora...yeah...broad based. Just give us a break, ok?
Look, it just doesn't work, there is no point in trying.
destroy and divide the movement
I am not, and have never been a member of the Socialist Workers party, nor will I ever be. I object to many of their strategies. However that is a motion to be debated in other circles. I built those cardboard tanks with my own hands, and I will continue to build, with my own hands and my own voice, whatever I deem fit, to involve everyone who objects to this system, no matter where their affinities lie. My family has a long history in Irish ploitics (as the name might suggest to some of you) and for the first time I believe that it might be possible, through Globalise Resistance, to build a broad movement which will include anyone who wants to be a part of it. Please don't tear it down, we need your support, or else it may very well become another branch of SWP, in which case I will leave.
P.S. Our decision making process mainly consists of people showing up at meetings and having ideas. The ideas are usually supported fully by all present, and anyone who has time agrees to help. Then we find what we need in skips or from people who have things they don't need, then we sell badges for a little spending money for glue and paint. The rest we achieve with good spirit and good humour.
