Campaign mail goes to the 3,524 names now registered on the e-mail Address
book. Please forward MIJAG mail to Friends and Work-mates and print out hard
copies to post up on Notice Boards.

The Main National Priority of the Campaign is the Election Campaign in
Dublin Mid-West and our Candidate David Green. David registered 4% in the
opinion polls 3 weeks after the idea was first mentioned in public. Clearly
David can do well in this Election and there is a responsibility on all of
us to get stuck in to his Election Campaign.

25,000 Leaflets/Car Window Posters are being printed on Friday. A copy will
be posted on the Web site. Campaign supporters are been asked to meet up
outside McDonalds at the Mill Shopping Centre in Clondalkin at 6pm ever
Saturday, starting this week. Ciaran Kennedy the Campaign Secretary will
have routes into estates prepared for people to follow with the Election
Leaflet. Everyone is due to meet back at the Mill Centre at 8.30 to go
around ten or so pubs with the same material. If this is repeated every week
during February and March it will raise the profile of our candidate locally
and make him a real force in this Election. A meeting with Local Politicians
invited (Including Mary Harney) is being organised.

The Cork Campaign have a Car Protest Organised for this Saturday 9th. The
Protest will leave from the Lee Fields at 2pm.

The Tipperary Campaign have a Public meeting with Politicians organised in
Ahern's Hotel, Clonmel for 8pm on Monday 25th of February.

If you sent a pledge we would like you to now sent the money by Cheque,
Postal Order or Bank Draft to the Campaign C/O 78 Whitechurch Way,
Ballyboden, Dublin 16. Your donation will then be acknowledged in writing.
Please include your e-mail address. If you have not made a pledge but can
make a donation please lodge money from any bank to the Campaign Account at
Bank of Ireland, Tallaght. Account Number 36150764, sort code 90-13-43.

RTE's Prime Time are due to do a program on the Issue this Thursday 7th.
While the researchers involved have got lots of information from MIJAG on
the details of Car Insurance issue they seem intent on getting all the
people that have been a big part of this problem to form a panel without a
chance for us to really confront them. They are talking about having
representatives of the Irish Insurance Federation, The Law Society and Noel
Tracey the Minister responsible. All the indications to date are that this
bunch of people have been falling over each other to fight to maintain the
status quo. It will be interesting to see if RTE can really pull them up on
the issue.

Regards
Mick Murphy (National Organiser)

How can you cycle to work if you are forced to live in Carlow due to the land speculators and their friends in the councils?
What if you are elderly or disabled?

Cycling to work its a good idea but is not practicle for everyone, we need a properly planned and fully integrated public transport system, but until then some people do need cars.

Ah HA HA ha, you really amuse me

>What if you are elderly?

if you're elderly you GET cheap insurance.

>we need a properly planned and fully integrated public transport system

which MIJAGuar does not campaign for.

even a moped would be better, using a 10th of the petrol, reducing traffic congestion and its cheaper insurance. But, of course, young men need a fancy car to pick up women right?

You havn't replied about what you think should be done for those that are forced to live far away from their place of work due to house prices. Do you expect someone to cycle from somewhere like Carlow to Dublin?
There is no properly funded and planned public transport system
There are people forced to live far from theri workplaces
So in the meantime people do need cars.

If you had read the MIJAG website you will find that MIJAG do campaign for a better public transport system as well as for safe driving campaigns.
