UDA Threat to Catholic Community Worker

The IRSP has described as "extremely sinister" a UDA threat to a
Catholic cross-community worker after she helped a pregnant woman
home to her house in Glenbryn.

The incident happened on Thursday when the 39-year-old crθche
worker was singled out after walking the young Protestant woman home
from Alliance after minding her children all morning.

The mother-of-four said her friend was hysterical when she telephoned
her to tell her that two UDA men had stopped her 11-year-old daughter
to ask where in Glenbryn her mother lived.

The two men warned the woman that she was not to bring the woman into
Glenbryn again or she would be punished.

And now the Catholic worker says she will leave her job to protect
her friend.

"She is one of the girls who come into my work to do classes and
training. I helped her home the day before because she is pregnant
and had a baby as well," said the woman who did not want to be
identified.

And in a chilling warning, in direct reference to the eviction of
families by the UDA in Glenbryn this week, the woman was told she
could easily become one of them.

"They told her people had been put out for less," said the community
worker.

"Her daughter had been told to bring the men to the house. I just
don't know what to make of it. What harm is there in two women
walking home from a cross-community group and one helping the other."

Paul Little of the IRSP said that Catholic workers were being
intimidated out of their jobs and he branded the episode as another
example of ethnic cleansing.

"The situation is extremely sinister and worrying for Catholic
workers in the community sector," he said.

"While much is being made of unionist and loyalist perceptions.
the brutal reality for nationalists is that they are going to
continue to be victimised regardless of the Good Friday Agreement,"
he said.

"It should come as no surprise that those who issued the threat
believe that ethnic cleansing is a justifiable reason to force a
person out of their employment. These are the same people who think
it is perfectly ok to terrify and intimidate primary school children
at Holy Cross."

THE MOTHER of Bray murder victim Keith Fortune's two children had her home trashed by vandals, just a day after she witnessed her partner's killer being jailed for life.
Shattered Karen O'Callaghan was this week counting the cost of a devastating rampage at her Fassaroe Park home.
Just days earlier the local mum of two had watched quietly at Dublin's Central Criminal Court, as killer Richard O'Carroll was jailed for life for stabbing her partner to death in a Bray pub three years ago.
But to add to her heartache, intruders broke into her home in the early hours of Saturday morning and caused thousands of pounds worth of damage. They
ž Smashed her brand new television set.
ž Ripped down her Christmas tree and trampled it into the carpet.
ž Smeared blood on the walls of her bedroom
ž Smashed windows in the house.
ž Ransacked the upstairs bedrooms and left clothing and personal belongings strewn all over the house.

10% rise in childhood abuse calls
THE South Leinster Rape Crisis and Counselling Centre reports a 'marked increase' in the numbers of victims of child sexual abuse, rape within marriage and male clients contacting the facility.
Rape Crisis Co-ordinator Daphne Hunt says the number of people reporting historical childhood sexual abuse to the Centre on Tullow Street in Carlow has risen by 10% this year.
And she reveals that counselling hours have increased from 837 in 2001 to 1,049 up to the end of November this year.

JUDGE Michael Pattwell, who stirred up a storm of controversy last week with the apparent leniency of the sentence imposed on celebrity chef Tim Allen on child pornography charges, described suspended sentences as “a joke” back in October 1998.
The nine months jail sentence imposed on Mr Allen for possessing 1,000 child pornography images was substituted for 240 hours community service, but this was later derided as akin to a suspended sentence.
In a case against a 22-year-old charged with assaulting gardaí, heard at Kanturk District Court over four years ago, and shortly after Judge Pattwell’s arrival in the North Cork area, the judge made his feelings on suspended sentences very clear.

By Michael Doyle

A Drogheda Garda Sergeant who paid a prostitute £100 to find him a girl aged between seven and 10 years to have sex with, has been remanded in custody for sentence for soliciting and child internet pornographic offences.

Kieran O’Halloran picked up the 21-year-old woman on Blackhall Place in Dublin and when they went to a flat on James’ Street he said he was looking for a young girl. He told her he didn’t see it as sexual abuse because he was willing to pay for the service.

She took down his mobile telephone number and said she would meet him on the south side of the city but, instead, she contacted the gardaí.

Once O’Halloran was identified the gardai obtained a search warrant for his home at Five Oaks in Drogheda where they seized two computers.

Pornographic material was recovered from one of the computers showing a number of pictures of children engaged in naked poses and sexual activity.

A spate of car crime has hit Gorey, with cars in several areas having windows broken or tyres slashed over the weekend.
Goods were stolen from the cars in only a small number of cases, leading Garda’ to believe that the crimes were carried out by a gang intent on nothing other than causing disruption and damage.
Vehicles in Sean Lios, Ard Lios, Newborough, Charlotte Grove, Grattan Court and Hazelwood were all targetted in the early hours of both Friday and Saturday.
The only items taken were a number of CDs from two of the cars, but many of the owners have still been left facing considerable bills to replace broken glass and slashed tyres.
Garda’ have responded to the crimes by stepping up the frequency of their nightly patrols in all the town's housing estates.

Porn charge ‘shocks’ locals
By Donncha MacRaghnaill

A CLOSE friend of the first person convicted under Operation Amethyst has spoken of her shock on discovering that her friend had a darker side.
Operation Amethyst, the Garda operation investigating child pornography internet sites, resulted in a Balbriggan man being jailed earlier this year.
The friend, who did not wish to be identified, said the discovery that Alan Crosby (28), who had an address at Railway Street, Balbriggan, harboured over 6,000 downloaded pictures of child pornography ‘was a shock for everyone’.
‘I knew him but didn’t know that part of him – and no one knew – it was a shock to us all,’ the friend said.
Describing Mr Crosby’s actions as ‘disgusting’ and saying that no one agreed with what he did, she said she felt sorry for his family and friends who faced a dilemma.
She added that Mr Crosby had been keeping to himself in the last few months and was not living in Balbriggan.
Mr Crosby, who had no previous convictions, is currently appealing the severity of the nine-month prison spell after pleading guilty of the possession of child pornography at Castlelands, Balbriggan, on May 27, 2002.

Members of 'c' company UFF, afiliated and under the direction of, deposed vice crime sectarian warlord Johnny Adair, have carried out pipe/blast bomb attacks, on pubs and the homes of loyalists opposed to nazi loving bully Adair. James Adair, johnny's brother was convicted of riotous assembly during the holy cross, glenbryn dispute. The holy cross dispute and glenbryn sectarian interface tension, is now widely believed by both loyalists and republicans to have been instigated, manufactured and manipulated by UDA members loyal to 'c' company boss Adair, and ultimately spearheaded by Adair. Adair's right hand henchman Willian Potts, was arrested and is in jail, after phoning in a pipe bomb threat against Holy cross primary school. The events at the glenbryn interface were manipulated by sinister forces affliated to Adair, to heighten sectarian tension and distract loyalist attention away from the murderous criminal activities of nazi Adair and his LVF chums, and to engage and occupy the working class loyalist community in futile petty sectarian bickering. Adair directed and manipulated glenbryn residents legitimate anger at social conditions, general community discontent and funneled this into futile sectarianisnm and blind bigotry and prejudice. Which had the objective of holding the working class loyalist community up to ridicule, and ultimately to discredit working class loyalists in the eyes of the world. A skilled agent provocateur like Adair and his men appealed to the basest instinct and blind bigotry of already vunerable/guillible glenbryn residents, whipping up sectarian tension into a frenzy, with the objective of turning glenbryn residents into an aggressive baying mob of blood thirsty bullies.

These are the same people that manipulated vunerable glenbryn residents for their own sinister purposes. From the the very start, Adair's henchmen were up at holy cross stirring up, sectarian hatred and tension. James Adair, William Potts and other 'C' company members were seen regularly goading glenbryn residents on, even though it was none of their buisness, they were in UDA, A/B company territory. Yet 'C' company members muscled in, to stick their oar in, and push a dangerous situation to the brink. LVF members also interferred to tip the cluan place situation over the edge as well. I don't have to be a provo spy, just a loyalist with integrity and insider knowledge, to monitor the activities and movements of those involved in Glenbryn and cluan place. Their activities and movements are common knowledge amongst even the working class loyalist communities. We're not mugs you know.
