Speak to your TD about Iraq, Shannon!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Though some people have already spoken to their Dail representatives about this issue before, there is a need for a more forceful effort this time. Contact your local TDs, speak to them directly and write to them, calling on them to vote against Ireland's participation in war and against US military overflights and stopovers. It doesn't matter what you may think of politicians, or how representative you feel they are/aren't really. If you contact their office and find out when you can meet with them to discuss this pressing issue with them, you'll probably find that they prick up their ears somewhat. Help them find the moral courage to resist their party wip, which may ask them to vote in favour of more destruction and slaughter in Iraq. Get a response from them in writing - send it on to the local media too, as part of a reader's letter or press release. |

Long live Shannon Airport,
There were plenty of Shannon and Co. Clare "locals" at the demo last Saturday. I spoke to several of them and they were totally against the refuelling of US military planes. Some of them work in the airport and are angry at the way it has been taken over by trigger-happy US military.
As for bringing money to Shannon I'm sure it does, thirty pieces of silver probably. What price is a human life worth?
The only locals i saw at the protest were local troublemakers who used the protest as an excuse to cause trouble. ie the guys who sprayed grafitti all over wing 5 of the building.
As for the us troops they havnt taken over the airport they are just transit passengers ,like many more who pass through the airport.
And what about the iraq people? their plight is caused by Saddamm not ATA or world airlines !.
Was it Saddam that dropped DU on the Iraqis?
Was it Saddam who bombed the water treatment facilities?
Was it Saddam who stopped much-needed medicine being imported into the country?
Was it Saddam who blew up an air raid shelter full of Iraqi men, women and children?
Here's a hint, the answer to all four questions is the same, and it's not a three letter word.
