In the last few minutes israel has retracted its statement of previous days saying that it will not now allow the UN contingent assembled to investigate Jenin. its excuse - members all diplomats, and would not see the event from "a soldiers perspective".

sorry bongo, i got it from BBC2 newsnight and posted it straight away. Unlike a lot of people on this site i am totally in favour as you seem to be of accountability in reporting. I will be less irresponsible in future
