That the absolute absence of news in main stream media in Ireland is a disgrace. Here is a country that is on the brink of a civil war. A war between rich and poor. A war between the controlling upper/middle class and poorer working class. A war between the prevalent economic ideas of the past 10 to 20 years and ideas of the past of Marx and other socialists. A war which is almost a metaphor for the for the entire time period since the end of the wall. Within Venezuela, there is the potent influence of America. Within Venezuela, there is the potent influence of America. Where they overthrow leaders who they dislike for taking trips to Cuba, or putting in place a foreign policy which differs to that of America. As Bush wants to get his hand on the control of massive amounts of oil, so that he may keep his highly polluting population with gas to drive their ancient “trucks” 50m down the road to pick up a “BigMc”. But still no information of this in the European media.

But the difference in the European media is immense. I was reading "le monde" during the week and listening to French radio, it was a principle topic.

This just shows the need for a trans-national European which covers current events I all counties worldwide with a focus in European affairs, which is available in all major European languages. This would be an obvios alternative to the shit that we are fed by “Newsweek” and “Time”

If you feed your mind with Time and Newsweek - who is to blame?

You have an Internet connection... use it! If you don't know how - find someone to help you...

On a slighty more trivial note, I found this game online a few months back, and its actually quite good, the blurb below exlpains basically what the game is all about. Its well worth a download (its freeware), and just try and set up anything resembling a socialist society and see what the yankees do to you. Unfortunatley, it seems that its impossible to set up a genuine socialist society or an anarchist one, but its a good game all the same, and adds to my belief that they don't make 'em like they used to

"Hidden Agenda is a political simulator that is unique in many ways, as well as being both realistic and extremely replayable. The game casts you as the new president of Chimerica, a South American country that has just overthrown a tyrant named Farsante. The economy is in ruins, the country leaderless, massive factions fighting one another for control... and your unenviable task is to create a cabinet and begin the almost impossible task of rebuilding the country.
But beware: your choices may place you at odds with the Army, whose commanders who have their own agendas and, in some cases, will seek to undermine the reforms you have in place. You can fire them, but that is never the end of it.

Gameplay takes place during seasons, in which you can make decisions, encounter various people, monitor imports and exports, read reports, and arrange loans through the IMF - if thats your thing. Every decision has repercussions in the game, each choice affecting your future: either as a President elect at the next election... or deposed by your enemies in the next coup d'etat.

One of the most intriguing and unique aspects of Hidden Agenda is the encounters. You will have encounters with various kinds of people, including the public, teachers, doctors, soldiers, etc., all of whom will present you with dilemmas. You can consult with your cabinet to set new reforms in motion or to ask advice on matters of state, but they will not always tell you what you want to hear. The game does allow you to consider some options, but at times you will be faced with a crisis that requires an immediate decision—and that decision may not be what you wanted, or will negate the plans you have made.

Overall, Hidden Agenda is a rare gem that offers an open-ended gameplay and some frightening insights into the myriad paths and subtle traps of the world of politics."
