Pedestrians call for Speed Governors in all Cars

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Friday April 19, 2002 01:26author by stop the slaughterReport this post to the editors

Why is it legal to sell and own vehicles capable of being operated at over twice the legal speed limit?

Following the killing of 2 gardai in Stillorgan by a car travelling at 120 mile per hour the pedestrians' movement calls for speed governors to be fitted to all motor vehicles. This is such an obvious step we cannot understand why it has not yet been introduced.

The next step is the installation of electronic speed regulation devices preventing sustained exceedence of all designated speed limits.

We call on the MIJAG campaign to support us as this measure would as well as saving innocent lives, have the (less important)effect of reducing insurance payouts and therefore premiums. (We know they read this site!)
