BARAKA event post - TAKEN OFF NEWSWIRE- WHY?

It was deleted because it didn't contain any information. You didn't say _anything_ about the film, or tell people any way they could watch it. Saying 'hopefully Bolton St will show it' is not really good enough. Come back when Bolton St are _definitely_ showing it, tell us when and where, and tell us what the film is about, so that we have some reason to be interested.

re - verging on commercail, can you be morespecific on that as i am doing a project in college and in it i have to explore those kind of fuzzy mechanisms- at what point can you call it "commercial" and what does that exactly mean#

as part of the project i was attempting to get many people aware of how helpful and necessary the indymedia website is

it is also an experimental artistic act, an attempt to set up real communication between people from around the world. yes its a little hazy but its an attempt to do something positive

will anyone show it in ireland, hopefully DIT bolton street will be showing it.

global artistic acts like this can be fun and in time can become powerful systems which in time can bring powerful change

can any of you show it

what are your opinions re all this?

Because the post said nothing about what the film was, or why anyone should watch it. Also (rather crucially), instead of telling people where it was on, it said "worldwide showing of the film that "will change your
life" at sunset wherever you are in the world on tuesday the
10th of december 2002".

So the post was encouraging people to watch a film, without telling them what it was about, or where they could watch it. What's the point?

read the mailing lists, they basically hate anything that it close to being 'commercial'
