The great former Dublin player David Hickey is doing more than the SP/SWP put together

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Wednesday December 04, 2002 22:57author by Che Report this post to the editors

Well done Dr Hickey, you are providing more medical equipment and doing more to defeat the evil US blockade of Cuba than the entire 'socialst' SP/SWP put together.

A very rare thing happened last night, RTE allowed an excellent and fair documentary about Dr Hickey and his brilliant work to provide badly needed medical equipment to Cuba. They even allowed Declan McKenna of the Cuba Solidarity campaign to speak about the achievements of the Cuban Revolution!

I think that Dr. Hickey is doing good things, giving practical support to one of the best health systems in the world (despite being isolated and under resourced)

I dont think you can use this to bash the SP. We've a massive workload. It takes up a lot of time to run a campaigning organisation. Our members are in Trade Unions, in community groups, we're also involved in internal party work and campaigns.

We'd love to have the time and resources to give practival help to a whole range of causes, but we cant. Why not join and get involved if you want us to take up more things?

Che is right. If those bunch of whining mostly idle and frustrated closet middle class muthafuckers got off their theoretical party asses and actually went about DOING SOMETHING...we'd all be much less annoyed by the langars, and general society would be better off. But no they can't, they got a party to organise because guess what, they still living in 1920's
Russia and all power to the soviets. Don't even know why im writing this when its so obvious that they are political dinosaurs, along with all the other ideologues out there, whose philosophies allow them to make plans how to 'change the world while continuing to be repressed and unevolved human beings.
God help anyone misled by the mogs. Join the party, adopt the ideology, and by the way leave your own critical brain and personality at the door. Bye Bye

The above posting is one of the most stupid I have ever seen on IMC, where on earth would two small political parties obtain the necessary resources to assist the Cuban People. Obviously David Hickey is to be congratulated on his assistance in providng medical supplies. Re "awareness", and doing something!!! you may be UNAWARE that people such as Joe Higgins and Clare Daly have been active on many issues, e.g. service charges, housing, solidarity with workers in disputes. I am also aware that SP think a great deal. All members are required to bring their brains to meetings, IT'S A PARTY RULE!!!

Wow! Cuba looked futuristic when u look at it from here - Know it's not in any way perfect but look at where it has got to compared to Erron since getting some form of self-determination - I hope they expand democracy there and really provide what the US is afraid of - a shiuning example - and the amount of doctors they have trained and sent abroad - wow - compare that to the irish policy of poaching staff from poorer countries

What is Dr. Hickey doing to assist the Cuban working class to overthrow the stalinist dictatorship which currently oppresses them?
What assitance is he giving them to establish a genuine workers democracy?
Forward to the Cuban socialist revolution.

We know you would prefer the USA to install its Batista type dictator in power in Cuba "Ted the Smart" trotskyist. Why do you trotskyist nuts hate or fear Cubans, Palestinian or even sinners so much? Is it because nobody is interested in your political gibberish anymore.

Dave is playing with the truth as is the standard response from political hacks whenever they are asked a difficult question:

"The above posting is one of the most stupid I have ever seen on IMC, where on earth would two small political parties obtain the necessary resources to assist the Cuban People....... "

Where does Dr Hickey 'obtain the necessary resources to assist the Cuban People' Or The Cuba Solidarity campaign? Well I suppose they beg borrow or steal it, and maybe ask for a few donations, but then they are just ordinary individuals and not 'two small revolutionary parties'

author by Davepublication date Fri Dec 06, 2002 01:12author address author phone Report this post to the editors

The surplus medical equipment that Dr. Hickey provided to hospitals could just possibly have some connection with the fact that he is a doctor and is therefore in a position to obtain said equipment.
I would doubt that either the SP or SWP have access to such equipment. On a lighter note, I am indeed a socialist but NOT a millionaire like your good self, if you are looking for any hacks, I suggest you try Mount st.
