Jump To Comment: 1The national question in our epoch is insoluable on the basis of capitalism, be on the island of Ireland or in Israel/palestine. It is incapable of practicing consistent democracy and therefore it is incapable of giving the Palestinians their own viable independent state while guaranteeing and answering the security fears of the Israeli Jewish working class. From reading this article is seems the author fails to recognise this. A socialist Palestine beside a socialist Israel as part of a socialist federation of the middle east is the only answer to the spiral of violence and carnage.
This is not a solution for the midst of the future but a solution that should fought for now. Because it recognises the national consciousness that has emerged amongst the Jewish working class since 1948 and the desire of the Palestinians for their own state it means it can gain the ear of both groups. Some on the left say it merely cements the divisions between Jews and Palestinians. However on the basis of socialism there would be free and open borders and issues such water and land rights could solved as well.
This can only be achieved by building a mass socilaist movement to overthrow oppressive Israeli capitaism and the corrupt Arab elites in this region.
