Elements of the Sinn Féin pre-budget submission are available on the website in the press release section for those with an interest.

I always find it amazing that SF will never reply to messages when they are exposed as just being another capitalist party.

"Frankly, with the economic downturn the argument that it (corporation tax) should be left as it is has some merit"

The ESRI calling for corporation tax at 17.5%, many EU leaders looking for 20%, what are SF calling for? 16%!! and going by the comment above it seems there are many in their party thinking it should be less!!

This is a clear obvious example that SF are in fact a capitalist party. They are unwilling to break with capitalism. If SF were socialists they would be calling for the nationalisation of the top indutries and for a planned economy. Instead SF pander to capatilist neo liberal arguments about the economy.

As I am at a reasonable and interesting argument about our pre-budget submission put forward by man in black I feeld riven to respond.

Personally I agree with you on Corporation Tax. ESRI believes that Corporation Tax could be increased to 17.5% without affecting the competitiveness of the economy. People might feel it should be even higher than that and I believe a day will come when it is possible to make it higher than that but at the moment 17.5% is there or thereabouts. Frankly, with the econpomic downturn the argument that it should be left as it is has some merit, coupled with the fact that the tax review we propose would actually make them pay the 16% instead of the tax breaks and avoidance that cost about 8.5 Billion a year.

Penalising polluters I completely take on board. The submission couldn't have everything in it, there's very little for example on Communications, but this should have been.

Lastly, the two remaining comments....I think to a certain extent you're mixing up manifestos and pre-budget submissions. This submissionw as simply about money, where to get it and how to raise it and how to spend it. Both of the issues you mention are things that would be more suitable for manifestos. On that note however we do call for the Overseas Development Aid to be lifted to meet our obligation to the UN and for the Tobin Tax to be implemented. The car free city centres we called for in our manifesto for Dublin before the election campaign.

I dont think sf are too interested in opening up city centres to pedestrians by banning traffic. I dont think they even have a policy on cycle lanes or if they do they dont push it much.

Yes I took the trouble to read it, it is not bad I agreed with the use of cheaper generic medicines, but I felt that you are setting corporation tax way too low, it was much higher a few years ago before Ho Chi Quinn and charlie boy slashed it down to a mere pittance, it is much higher in Germany and other countries.

"Retain Corporation Tax at 16% with a special 30% rate for banks and financial insitutions
Institute a new tax band for the highest earners a 50% rate for in excess of ¤100,000 per annum........"

Among the other ommissions was no policy of penalising polluters, banning traffgic from city centres or the struggle against globalisation. Still it was better than I expected and not as nutty sounding as the swp etc

Dear Charlie,

Sinn Féin would like cuts, privatisations, sell-offs, lay-offs.

Show these pesky workers who the boss is. Don't worry Charlie we're capitalists just like you. We dont really oppose cuts, we just say that to get votes off those working class people. Just like you we say one thing and do another.

o ghost i'd say justin presumes that the non-loyalists on the site would have the gumption to be able to find the sf site.

anyway, there three categories of capitalist roaders, ooopppsss! i mean anti-republicans on indy:

those ignorant of the history of their own country.

those with political differences.

those who do so from hatred.

anyway marching feet will be needed as well as bums on feet.
