Referendum results online

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Saturday October 19, 2002 19:24author by Daithi Report this post to the editors

Why use the ad-covered media websites when you can go straight to the source?

Results from the counting of the Nice referendum will be online at www.referendum.ie as they come in - this site is maintained by the returning officer and has no connection with either the Referendum Commission or any media undertaking.

Daithi, I just visited the site and was only able to find a link to a legal disclaimer, a link to refcom.ie and a link to the Nice Treaty amendments to the constitution. Do I need a java plugin in order to get the counts?

You might. I remember from the abortion referendum that the scrolling text on the top of the screen had a habit of messing up IE but if you use Netscape/Mozilla it should be OK.

The direct link for the Nice results is
http://www.referendum.ie/current/index.asp?ballotid=75

there should be a map on the right of the screen and a menu on the left with the provinces.

The first electronic counts won't be out till around 10-12pm Irish time (seven Dublin constituencies)
and then the manual counting will begin tomorrow morning.

the link to the map that you gave requires no java, works fine under Konqueror. I quite like the by-county table breakdown too:
