- meeting
- walk and talk
- public art event

at the end of ecotopia there was discussions on how best to keep things rolling. New and improved networks of communication, both real and virtual, were felt to be the best way forward.
People broke into their respective provinces in which they are living.
Leinster agreed on having free public meetings on the first Saturday of every month, upstairs in the dublin food co-op in the resource centre on pearse street at 12.00

the first meeting was planned for Saturday the 7th of September, with “communication” as the theme
this date was changed to sat the 14th and an email sent informing people of this

unfortunately some people did not hear of the change so the first meeting did happen on the 7th for joe and áine
last Saturday the first official? meeting happened. joe, micheal, áine, rory, duncan, alicia and pears turned up.
we chatted for a few hours
- it is felt that the existing “green” irish body can improve its communication
- at present there is no open forum area for discussion and sharing of ideas
- ecotopia was a major event for the country, it should be documented and its findings spread around the country, possibly by a traveling art exhibition
- it is felt that the existing “green” movement is a bit cliquey and hard to get involved with
- a regular time and place every month is best for newcomers to come to
- open public art events, street theatre etc are fun, and can make a day out for the green day. They also spread awareness and possibly get more people involved
- we discussed whowing of films, free bok exchanges, “dotting the cash”
- we had tasty soup and all agreed ECOTOPIA was class, alicia had not been there but we showed her pics

after the meeting we had planned to go for a green “walk and talk” from 2- 5. But we headed down to the grand canal and took it easy. We were joined by rob and georgeyaura.

We dressed ourselves up and headed to grafton street for @ 5.00 for the public art event. 2 of us had boiler suits on and 5 of us had placards with different things written on them . we gave out bits of organic lettuce we had been given from the food co-op for helping tidy up to people on grafton street “greening the city” was our request as we offered the free lettuce. Many people asked us what was going on and we explained about RTS next week, ecotopia, green forum, and general sustainable ideas
It was a lot of fun and we met khaled and eva.

We finished off the evening with a few pints and all in all it was a great day
A few of us went for a wander up powerscourt waterfall the following day, to really make a weekend of it

We will have the images from “greening the city” soon
Below are pics taken by rory at ecotopia and a pic of our home, the reason why we do what we do
