offsite link Dictator Trump? That?s Just Silly Wed Feb 26, 2025 19:05 | Dr James Allan
Calling Trump a dictator is just silly, says Prof James Allan. Yes, he's bombastic. But he's been elected to secure the border and drain the swamp. And he is the President, in whom all executive authority resides.

The BBC spent over ?300,000 of licence fee-payers' money to hide a report on its anti-Israel bias. Amid the crisis from its pulled Gaza documentary, it's time to let us see it, says Donna Rachel Edmunds. What is it hiding?

Why is the logo of Ógra Shinn Féin a petrol bomb?

The reason is because ÓSF are really the lumpen youth that support SF in their sectarian activities.

The petrol bomb with the flame/lily appeals to young scumbags of Belfast and the barstool republican element among the southern youth.

I'd be interested to see if someone from ÓSF could come on here and give a good reason for their logo.

I sincerely hope they have better things to do with their time than waste it trying to explain republican history and symbolism to some-one who describes himself as SF hater and who chucks in a few words of semi-personal abuse in his post.

What's historic about petrol bombs? Justin, could you (or any other SF member) please explain the 'republican symbolism' behind the ÓSF logo.

I'm interested to hear it explained aswell.

While I'm as critical of SF's record in government as anyone else, and think there are plenty of criticisms that could be made of the petrol bomb thing, this is getting to be a broken record.
Serious criticisms (of the SWP, WSM, SP, or SF) take more than one sentence.

Ray why are you such a crank?
Why cant there be discussion of ÓSFs logo?

Cranky old Ray ;) is, in this case, right. This was discussed on newswire less than a month ago. A discussion took place, views were expressed, explanations were forthcoming, we laughed, we cried, we sang and we danced. It was, really, quite, quite beautiful.

No-one is muzzling debate. The debate was had. I have neither time nor inclination to repeat debates ad nauseum and I hope Ogra are more concerned with their work than with answering the same old questions again.

author by Raypublication date Mon Sep 16, 2002 15:29author address author phone Report this post to the editors

Its just it gets a bit boring when the petrol bomb comes up every second week. And its not like the 'discussion' ever gets much past that.

Its like the PFI thing in the north. Pretty much every week, someone announces, like Einstein announcing E=MC2, that SF can't be socialist, because they are implementing PFI in the north.
And every time Justin, or someone else from SF, points outs that they are only one party in the government, that they don't have tax-raising powers, and that they decided to go along with something they opposed because the only alternative is walking out of government.
And the Einstein-wannabe doesn't have any reply.

Just to be clear, I think SF _can_ be criticised on the logo and the PFI issues. Both betray flaws in their position. But it gets very boring to see, week after week, people _starting_ to make these criticisms but then being unable to get past the first step. Its like listening to a drunk who only knows the first line of a song, but keeps singing that line over, and over, and over again...

Is it my fault that so many people are too stupid and/or lazy to respect some basic posting protocols?

author by Aisling Connorpublication date Mon Sep 16, 2002 18:54author address author phone Report this post to the editors

But why do socialist SF feel they can comfortably share 'power' with the right wing of the Conservative Party?
Why stay in the Assembly? Has it brought gains for working class people? Has it stopped the violence?
It is important to criticise SF's invovlement with PFI and the excuse "it's not our fault" is bloody weak!
Stand up for what you believe in, prove your socialism, go on...prove it!
