The Syrian uprising against President Bashar al-Assad is being driven by disparate forces whose origins and aims remain shrouded in mystery. Journalist Kapil Komireddi argues foreign jihadists may target Israel if they topple Damascus.
RT: So little is known about who many of these rebel factions actually are – what light can you shed on this, and how did you come by this information?
Kapil Komireddi: I interviewed a group of rebels in Damascus who were holed up in various parts of [the capital] and various suburbs. A few of them who had traveled from Afghanistan said that they had a big fight against the Jews ahead of them and this is familiar to me, because I’ve also met people elsewhere, particularly in Pakistan, who say that they have a fight with the Jews ahead of them. So they see that as the ultimate destination. I don’t know if this is a view shared by all of the rebels who are fighting the Assad government, but there are some who certainly see this as a sort of stopover in the journey to the final destination.
RT:Do you have any other evidence apart from the views of the rebel fighters you spoke to? Are there any other indications that Israel might be facing a more dangerous enemy on its border?
KK: One of the things that was particularly disturbing to me is how Manaf Tlass [a former member of Assad’s inner circle who defected] is being groomed as a possible replacement for Assad. Not a lot of people know that Manaf Tlass’s father [former defense minister] Mustafa Tlass is a first rate anti-Semite. He’s written a book called The Matzah of Zion which talks about the blood libel and he [Manaf] was smuggled out by French spies. He keeps making trips to Saudi Arabia, but not a lot of people know the history behind Manaf Tlass and people should be worried about [him] being groomed as a possible replacement.

Syrian state TV reports of three powerful explosions in downtown Aleppo, the financial hub and largest city of the country. Reportedly the blasts were caused by car bombs that terrorists delivered to the city’s main square. Later, terrorists struck again, blowing up a fourth car, this time near a municipal palace in Baba Amr quarter, reports Lebanese Al-Manar TV station.
Syrian government officially confirmed 27 dead in the terror act.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that activists on the ground report 40 fatalities and 72 injured in the terror act, most of them military servicemen.
The Saadallah al-Jabri square in central Aleppo where the first three explosions took place is currently controlled by government forces.
Most of the victims of the blasts are civilians. Luckily enough, the three cars on Saadallah al-Jabri square went off early in the morning when the municipal buildings were empty. The House of Officers has reportedly been completely destroyed. Rescuers continue to clear up the debris and the number of victims may grow.
And the false flag operation predicted by the Russian Foreign Ministry has taken place.
Three killed by Syrian mortar in Turkey's border region – reports
Three people including a child were reportedly killed when a mortar bomb fired from Syria hit Turkey's southeastern border region of Akcakale on Wednesday. At least nine others were seriously wounded, the local mayor told CNN Turk television. At least eight wounded people were being taken to hospital, three of them police officers, Reuters said, citing witnesses.
It seems the people of Turkey are keenly aware of what their politicians are up to as this report indicates.
Tens of thousands of anti-war protesters gathered in Istanbul, Thursday evening, opposing military action against Syria. Marchers streamed through the capital's commercial district, opposing Turkey’s alliance with the United States and pledging support for the Syrian people.
The demonstration took place after the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government used its majority in parliament to grant Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan powers to send soldiers into “foreign countries”.
The clear intent is to wage a cross-border offensive to depose the regime of Bashir al-Assad without consulting the national assembly. The motion submitted allows the government to determine “the scope, extent and time” of any possible intervention...........

Elsewhere it has been discovered that Turkey's economy is in deep trouble and it seems Qatar is actually paying Turkey to help provide the bases for the so called Syria rebels which are in fact Al-Qaeda terrorists supported and backed by the most regressive of Gulf states as well as Saudi Arabia and the USA, UK and France.
