Why are climate alarmists so impervious to facts, so averse to rational cost-benefit analysis? It has all the hallmarks of a religious cult, says James Allan. They can't let it go because it gives meaning to their lives.

Let's All Support the Planned Protests by SIPTU for the Vita Cortex Workers!!

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | opinion/analysis author Thursday January 05, 2012 20:52author by Pól Ó Cionsalíghauthor email paulbkinsella at gmail dot comauthor address An Chúlóg, Báile Átha Cliath 17author phone 0851478100 Report this post to the editors

We Should All Support the Planned Protests by SIPTU for the Vita Cortex Workers at Kinsale Road in Cork City Including the National Mobilisations!! In fact I think Everyone Must Support these Mobilisations And Protests Whether Or Not you're SIPTU Members! I welcome the fact that the TEEU have also pledged their support for the Vita Cortex Workers.

All Trade Union Members And Workers, Both Private And Public Sector Must Support these Mobilisations And Protests Including the National Mobilisations which hopefully are going to occur During Working Hours like for example as occurred in the Irish Ferries and PAYE Tax Protests because make no mistake about it, if employers like Vita Cortex are allowed to get away with what they're trying to do then it's Open Season On All Workers, Both Private And Public Sector. What's different about Vita Cortex and Lagan Brick is that it's Workers on the ground forcing the Trade Union leaders to take Action and that's a welcome development. Looking forward to many more Direct Actions and Occupations in 2012 :-)

In Solidarity

2012 is the year when the sleeping Irish finally wake up and the Revolts sweeping the rest of the World will hit Ireland - From Worker's Occupations like Lagan Brick and Vita Cortex to Protests Against cuts to disadvantaged schools and Special Needs Assistants and the Household Charge (Poll Tax!). Bring it on!
2012 is going to be a very busy year for all of us Activists! We'd better get plenty of crash helmets and steel capped boots coz we're going like very soon! The days of the timid Irish is over methinks.

Yes it is about time we all woke up, the problem with these workers being left without jobs, and now a termination of employment payment is down not only, to the employer but also the current political parties, who have sold out the country for the sakes of mainly one bank and the euro currency.

It is about time everyone took to the streets and force the cuts at the top, starting with government pensions and then pay and also closing down the bank that broke the country.

activity for activity's sake may be self-gratifying....but I suggest you wait till the thing ripens and not go off half-cocked. That just antagonises potential allies and gives the arseholes well-intentioned fodder.
Ireland has a history of premature rebellious ejactulations. They may have been honourable examples of resistance to exploitation...but I'm inclined to think a little more education and preparation is required if its not to be another abortion in the long line.

Believe me, they are ready for more contingencies than we currently are. Nothing will change here until the US, EU and the nosy neighbour over the ditch are rising with us. We'll be steamrolled like a Palestinian tent.

While you're waiting(its only sixty seven page) pick up a copy of Chomsky's 'Government in the Future', first published in1970 but revised in 2005. He holds up a few signposts in the bibliography.
If you've read it already tell me where you disagree.

Stay active, but if we do it proper it will minimise mess. And there will be provocateurs queueing up to lace your jackboots if thats your preference. Sure as the ESB crosses borders, Saracens still do. There will be hotheads to spare. If you are to be useful, it will be in cooling them for construction, not malicious demolition. Its easier to burn a slum than build a shed.

Work away on the local issues...but do not be expecting overnight utopia and general enlightenment.
